Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Arsenic Mitigation Project Phase II
The Arvin Community Services District (“District”) is very excited to announce it has received funding from the Division of Financial Assistance from the State Water Resources Control Board in the amount of $14,348,616 (“Loan”). This Loan will be used to fund a clean water project (Phase II of the Arsenic Mitigation Project (“Project”). This Project consists of 3 new wells, a 1-million-gallon storage tank with a booster pump station, and new conveyance lines. District Staff and its Board of Directors have been working diligently on clean water projects to provide better quality water to the community of Arvin. “This Project has taken more than 10 years to get to this point and to have all the pieces come together the way they have, is a great benefit to the District” stated General Manger Raul Barraza, Jr. “It’s fantastic to see that all of the efforts by the Board of Directors are coming to fruition and the Arvin community will soon have better quality drinking water” said Board President Rafael Gallardo. The District Board would like to thank its Staff, engineering consultants Dee Jaspar and Associates, Inc. and Legal Counsel Alan J. Peake for making sure the District was diligent in working towards completing all tasks required to achieve obtaining this Loan. Special thanks goes to the State Water Resources Control Board Staff in providing assistance throughout the process, City of Arvin Council and Staff for selling the properties to the District for the District’s well sites, the offices of Assemblyman Rudy Salas and Senator Hurtado for helping push to obtain the funding, and the entire community of Arvin for being patient and supporting the District through this process. We look forward to seeing you at our groundbreaking ceremony taking place on Thursday, May 16 at 6PM at the corner of Sycamore Road and Walnut Drive in Arvin, California.Groundbreaking May 16, 2019
